Hiring the St Lawrence’s Centre

St Lawrence Centre set up for a wedding reception

Individuals, groups and societies etc may hire St Lawrence’s.  The tariff has been set at reasonable levels to encourage concert and exhibition organisers and the Trustees of St Lawrence’s are keen that the venue should be used for the community so some discretion on tariffs may be available, for example, charity events.

The Centre lends itself to a variety of events and regularly hosts:

  • Weddings
  • Concerts
  • Exhibitions
  • Craft Fairs

The Centre can comfortably seat up to 80 for concerts, is centrally heated and has a Blüthner grand piano, dressing facilities for artists, toilets and limited on-site parking.  

Also available to organisers, on-site and without charge, are tables, chairs, flexible-staging, a servery for coffee/tea preparation and a large range of china, glass & cutlery.

Visitors will find that access and parking at St Lawrence’s is convenient, and that both toilets and access are suitable for disabled visitors.

The main area of St Lawrence’s offers 97 square metres of clear floor space. Over 50 metres of hanging rail and a picture-hanging system is available. There is natural lighting from the original tall church windows which is supplemented by high-level lighting, including spot-lighting for performances.

Assistance for the promotion of concerts, exhibitions, etc. is available if required via direct mailing and publicity to Friends and supporters of St Lawrence’s.

Tariffs for hiring the centre for private events

Includes all the centre facilities.  As St Lawrence’s is operated entirely by volunteers, organisers are requested to leave the venue in a clean and tidy condition.   There is no rubbish collection from St Lawrence’s so it would be appreciated if any rubbish could be taken away by event organisers. 

Organisers will also need to arrange setting-up prior to, and clearing-away following, their events, assistance may be available by prior arrangement.  

The stewarding and supervision of events and exhibitions are not included, however we would be pleased to give advice on request.

We can arrange piano tuning, however this will be as an add-on/extra cost to your hire fee


From 12 noon to 11pm – £90,  5pm to 11pm – £70

Exhibitions, (Paintings, Drawings, etc.) with sales

Hire fee per day – £40, Commission on sales 10%

Other Exhibitions, & Exhibitions without sales

Hire fee per day £40

Classes, meetings, etc.

First 3 hours – £24 (subsequent hours £5 per hour).

Private receptions, buffets, dinners, etc. 

Full day to 11pm – £125;  Part day (up to 4 hours) – £60

Quiet Days, Retreats, etc.

From 10am to 4pm – £40
